Welcome to PSURG, the Home Page of Toronto's Cosmetic Surgicentre.
The Surgicentre is a private accredited ambulatory cosmetic plastic surgical facility specializing in total body cosmetic surgery for men and women.
The facility is owned and operated by Dr. Robert H. Stubbs, a plastic surgeon with more than 20 years experience in out-patient cosmetic surgical procedures.
Plastic surgery is the specialty that seeks to improve physical function and/or appearance. The word "plastic" is derived from the Greek meaning "molding" or "giving form". Plastic surgery can be divided into reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery, although many procedures combine elements of both. The goal of reconstructive surgery is to restore an individual's form and function to as near normal as possible. Disfigurement or scarring resulting from accidents, disease or birth defects can be improved by numerous reconstructive techniques. These same techniques are used by the Plastic Surgeon who performs cosmetic surgery to improve a patient's features; these features, although within the range of normal, are considered less than ideal by the individual.
The ultimate goal of cosmetic surgery is a happy patient. Properly planned and executed surgery, performed on an individual with realistic expectations and good indications for improvement, will achieve this purpose.
Emotional stability is one of the most important factors to be established before any cosmetic surgery is undertaken. While an elective cosmetic procedure can reshape your body, it can not reshape your life. Cosmetic surgery can improve your appearance and renew your self-confidence, but the rest is up to you.
No surgery is without risk. Cosmetic plastic surgery, a marriage of both art and science, is no exception. The results of cosmetic surgery hinge on two things - the surgeon and the patient. Obviously, the ability of the surgeon and the technique that he employs are extremely important. But the patient's general health, healing ability and co-operation are equally important.
